Aweber and Constant Contact offer similar services as MailChimp but on a paid subscription basis.

Be Sure Every Email Includes a Call to Action:

The first time you email someone, your goal should be to get them to respond. After that, your plan should take the next step. The call to action may be as simple as asking to reply and letting the conversation naturally continue from there. But it could also be more direct. For example:

• If you are doing customer support via email, always include a link to self-service options or knowledge base articles in the footer of your message.

• Include a link or button at the bottom of your message inviting the recipient to check out your product or service.

• At the time of trying to develop a relationship with a potential partner or client, include a link or button at the bottom of your message inviting them to book time on your calendar for a phone call or in-person meeting.

Keep an Eye on Open and Click-Through Rates:

It would help if you kept an eye on open and click-through rates because these metrics help you identify the best time to send email messages to your subscribers. Sending emails during the best time for your audience will lead to a higher number of opens and clicks, positively affecting your conversion rate, sales, and revenue.

Most email marketing platforms provide a variety of free reports and statistics, through which you can easily track your open and click-through rates. The report may vary from one email marketing tool to another. Nonetheless, some of the information that you should be looking for are:

Don’t Neglect Mobile Users:

If your email marketing campaign is not mobile-friendly, you are losing out on many potential conversions. Let’s face it; most people check their emails on their phones first. Even if they can’t open your email or can’t access the links in your email, they will delete it and move on.

A few things you need to consider:

Use a responsive design. Test your email campaign on several devices to see how it looks across all platforms.

Keep your font size large enough for the reader to read easily. Even 8pt is about the smallest font you should use.

Avoid small images that require zooming in. The user should be able to see what is going on with the idea without having to zoom in. But is more work for them and annoying.

Provide a “View Online” link, so if they can’t get the information itself, they can go online and find it there.

Don’t use pop-ups or videos that automatically play sounds or videos. When they open their email unless those features are clearly labelled as such, so they know what will happen when they click on the email.

Test and Test Some More:

You have permission from a subscriber to send them an email. Permission is a significant first step for getting your message in front of your target market, even it does not guarantee success. Your subscribers may be interested in what you have to say. But there are still many other factors that go into it. Whether or not they will act on your message and complete some action (what we call a conversion).
